Minnie Ellen Stiles, daughter of Mary Jane and William McFarland, was born on November 22, 1878 at Diagonal, Iowa and passed away on January 17, 1956.

On August 15, 1897 she was united in marriage to William H. Stiles. To this union were born three children, Carroll of Dexter, Mona Eastman and Don of Des Moines. Most of her married life was spent in Earlham, and the past 18 years she lived in Des Moines.

She is survived by her husband, three children, eleven grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren, five sisters: Ada Rhoades of Mt. Ayr; Mary Morrison of Lincoln, Nebraska; Margaret Miner of Lincoln, Nebraska; Emma Arnett of Canton, Illinois, and Josephine Welcher of Aurora, Illinois, and one brother Clifford McFarland of Crystal Lake, Iowa. One brother, Willis preceded her in death in 1949.

Mrs. Stiles was employed for 10 years at Broadlawns hospital as Sewing Room Supervisor, until her retirement two years ago. At an early age she was united with the Friends church at Earlham.
