A.D. Husted
Arlando Darwin Husted was the youngest of a family of nine children born to Thomas and Susan Husted, being born June 19, 1882, near Truro, in Madison county. He died at the Harken hospital in Osceola, on July 24, 1923, aged 41 years, 1 month & 6 days.
On Jan. 9, 1902 he was united in marriage with Miss Jennie C. Litton of Winterset. To this union were born five children, four of whom with their mother sustain the loss of their father. They are: Alice Mildred, Susie Margery, Arthur Litton and Thelma Jane. A baby, Robert died in infancy. The brothers and sisters are as follows: Frank, who resides at Washington, D. C.; Robert S., who departed this life at Osceola about ten years ago; Charles E. of Truro, Thomas E. of St. Charles, Ora E. of Truro, Mrs. Cora B. Allen of Winterset, Harlan C. of Peru and Mrs. Rosa Leinard of Winterset. Mr. Husted leaves also one uncle and two aunts, Frank Husted of Murray, and Mrs. Jennie Phillips of Des Moines.
Following their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Husted lived first in Winterset and Madison county, whence they removed to Clarke county, where they have resided the last 17 years. During the last nine years they have lived about five miles southwest of Osceola, where their beautiful country home is situated. Mr. Husted was a member of the Osceola Christian church Fraternally, he was a member of the Knights of Pythias, the Modern Woodmen of America and the Woodmen of the World. Educationally he was a member to the Clarke county school board, treasurer of his school district and a director of the Clarke county chautauqua.
