Page 1, Column 1Death of James O. Gregory
Word was received here yesterday morning of the death of James O. Gregory, formerly of this county, but recently of Freedom, Okla., at the age of 55 years. Mr. Gregory was kicked by a horse about a week ago and it caused concussion of the brain, from which he died in the hospital at Alva, Okla., Tuesday night at 8 o'clock.
Mr. Gregory was well known here, being the youngest child of J. W Gregory, and while he was born in Ringgold county, came here when a small boy and was raised in Walnut township. He attended the Winterset high school from which he was graduated, and later taught in this county. About 20 years ago he moved to Nebraska and after spending five years there, went to Freedom, Okla.
His wife died nine years ago, but he is survived by two daughters, Ercel and Goldie; five sons; Glen, Faye, Victor, Earl and Teddy; four brothers: Frank G. of Winterset, Wesley of Oklahoma, Sherman and Ellis of Des Moines; and two sisters, Mrs. Frank Bowlsby of South Dakota and Mrs. Allvilda Bivin of Oklahoma.
