W. RUSSELL FRANCIS, 55, DIED IN FLORIDA

Service for W. Russell Francis, 55, who died of a heart attack Tuesday, February 9th was held Monday, February 15th at the Hamilton’s Funeral home in Des Moines. Burial was in the Earlham cemetery.

Mr. Francis was the youngest son of Calvin and Jane Francis and was a native of Earlham, a birthright member of the Friends Church at Earlham.

Surviving are two sisters, Miss Edith Francis and Mrs. O. L. Kirk of Des Moines.

Locals

Some local relatives and former friends of the Calvin Francis family attended the graveside service for Russell Francis Monday afternoon at the Earlham cemetery. The Francis’ were former residents of Earlham.

After the service several of the relatives who attended the burial, came to the home of a cousin, Mrs. Nora Snow, for a brief visit. Mrs. Snow, assisted by Mrs. Ross Reynolds, served them coffee and a light lunch before they left on the return trip. The group included Miss Edith Francis of Des Moines; a niece and husband from Nevada, Iowa; another niece, Alice Palmer, cousins, Carrie Murray from Adel; Ruby Gibbons of Redfield; Myrtle Brennen from Carlisle; a friend, Lela Carter from Des Moines; also Verda Kenworthy and Laura Jackson and Claude McBride, a cousin, all of Earlham.
