George Shaver, one of the pioneers of Madison county, died at his home northwest of town on last Thursday evening, after a lingering illness extending over a period of thirty or forty years and for which he had been treated by our best physicians called to no avail. For the past year he has rapidly showed the extent of his suffering and decline in an last October as a last resort, went to California, thinking perhaps he might find relief, but to no purpose.

On last Monday he returned home that he might spend a few days yet left of life with his family and friends. His last few days were helpless ones and tender hands and loving hearts administered to his every want until death removed him to a more blessed place in which to be.

The funeral was conducted by Rev. W. W. Williams Saturday at Blair Chapel and his body was consigned to the grave.

He was a most devoted an affectionate husband and father and in his death the community loses one of its best benefactors and friends.
