KARLA RAE DAY, Stuart

Karla Rae Day, 55, of Stuart passed away at her home on Thursday, March 12, 2015. Visitation was held on Tuesday, March 17th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Stuart. Funeral service was held on Wednesday, March 18 at Penn Center United Methodist Church, rural Earlham. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Karla Day Memorial Fund and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, Iowa 50250. Karla was born September 8, 1959 to Lyle and Dolores (Dunbar) Summy in Redfield, Iowa. She grew up in Earlham and attended Earlham Community Schools. On October 11, 1975 she was united in marriage to Fred Day at Penn Center United Methodist Church in rural Earlham. To this union two sons were born, Jeremy and Jason. The family made their home in Earlham. Karla worked several jobs as a manager of convenience stores and telemarketing. She relocated to Des Moines and then finally settled in Stuart.

Karla enjoyed reading, attending races, paying with her dogs and supporting her children with their activities. She loved spending time with her grandsons and baking Christmas fudge with her granddaughter Shelby.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Kevin

She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her loving husband, Fred of Stuart, children, Jeremy Day of Stuart, Jason (Julia) Day of Stuart and Kaiti Day (finance Jeff Culp) of Adel; grandchildren: Shelby Day, Zachery Day and Jaylon Day; siblings: Terry (Helen) Summy of Kansas City, Ks, Kay Bartlet of Earlham and Kenny (Dixie) Summy of Earlham; 17 nieces and nephews and a host of other family and friends that will miss her dearly.
