MARION CAMP, WASHINGTON

Marion K. Camp, 94, of Olympia, Wash., died Monday, Aug. 31, 2015, at Providence St. Peter’s Hospital in Olympia.

Private services will be held at a later date. Memorial gifts can be directed to Olympia St. Peter’s Palliative Care (413 Lilly Rd, Olympia WA 98506).

Marion Camp, the son of Harvey L. and Dorothy (Martin) Camp, was born Jan. 18, 1921, in rural Clarke County near Murray. Marion attended rural schools in Madison and Clarke counties and attended high school in Patterson. Living the life of a typical Great Depression teenager, he worked at a variety of jobs available in the area. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in May 1942, and serving until World War II ended in 1945. Much of this time was spent in New Caledonia in the South Pacific. While stationed at Fort Lewis, Wash., he met and married Becky Morris; to this union two children were born. They made their home in various cities in the Pacific Northwest. Marion’s years of employment were comprised of various accounting positions, retiring as office manager from Early Tire Factory.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; his bothers, Marvin, Bob and Dan; and sisters, Marilyn Jane and Mary Nadine.

He is survived by two children: Kerry (Joan) and Cheryl (Ron Huffman); four grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Helen Armstrong of Indianola and Evelyn Camp of Indianola; brother, Glenn (Diana) Camp of Indianola, and sister-in-law Phyllis Camp of Gilbert, Ariz.; and many other family members and friends.
