Viola Adams Andrews passed away at King’s Daughter hospital in Perry July 6th. Death came as the result of a broken hip from a fall ten days previous. Funeral services were held Saturday at the Methodist church in De Soto with Rev. Stanley Mahanna, pastor of the Adel Christian Church officiating. Interment was in Ellis cemetery, the Fisher Funeral Home in charge.

Viola Adams, youngest of four children of George and Victoria was born January 18, 1870 at their homestead near De Soto.

She received her education at De Soto high school and Toledo College. She taught in Dallas county schools. She was a fine musician and had charge of music in the new Earlham Academy, also a large class in Adel and in the country.

After her father’s death she married Everett Andrews and they made a home for her mother with them for fifteen years, living in Denver, California and North Carolina. Her mother died in 1913 and Mr. and Mrs. Andrews moved to Tampa, Florida where they lived twenty-eight years. Her husband died in 1941. Since then she has made her home with Mrs. Ida Mitchell near De Soto. Her sister, May and brothers, John and Henry passed on several years ago. Surviving are a cousin, Miss Hattie Hodson of Earlham and a few more distant relatives. She has been a faithful member of the Christian church since her early girlhood.
