Ralph Carroll Wilkinson, 97, died Wednesday, August 5, 2015, at home. Graveside services will be held 2 p.m. Friday, August 7, at Winterset Cemetery in Winterset.
Ralph was born on July 26, 1918, in Des Moines, to John and Bertha (Larrison) Wilkinson. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. Ralph married Rena Maxine Farr on April 2, 1946, in Topeka, KS. He taught at Waukon, Forest City and Creston before the Mason City School District where he retired in 1978 after 20 years of service. Ralph enjoyed gardening and tinkering around the house.
Ralph is survived by his wife, Rena, his son Donald Wilkinson of Des Moines, eight grandchildren, several great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He was preceded in death by parents, his daughters, Carol Lewis and Louise Garner; his granddaughter, Michelle Wilkinson and his sister, Orrell Cooper.
The family will receive friends from 5 - 7 p.m. Thursday at Iles-Westover Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project. Online condolences will be welcomed at IlesCares.com. -
