Wednesday, January 5, 1928Death of Mrs. Hulda Shultz
Mrs. Hulda Shultz, who has been one of the well known residents of Winterset for many years, died early Wednesday morning, January 4th, at the home of Mrs. Ben Campbell, on South Second street. Mrs. Shultz was past 87 years of age. She and her husband, C. C. Shultz, were pioneer residents of Winterset and for many years operated the City hotel, afterwards known as the Arcade. Mr. Shultz died about 20 years ago.
Mrs. Shultz has not kept house for herself in recent years, but has been residing at the home of friends. She went to the Ben Campbell home in September, and was in good health until recently. About six weeks ago she became ill and she gradually became weaker.
Funeral arrangements will not be made until the daughter, Mrs. H. E. Williamson, who resides in Portland, Oregon, reaches Winterset. However, it is thought that the services will be held either in Tidrick’s funeral home or in the First Baptist church. More details of Mrs. Shultz’s life may be found in next week’s Madisonian.
