May 1903

Miss Catherine Prohaska, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Paul Prohaska, died in Des Moines on last Saturday, May 16, from acute tuberculosis, after an illness lasting only two weeks.

The deceased was born in Moravia, Prussia, March 30, 1863, and came to this country with her parents in 1868. For the past twenty years she had been clerking in the large dry goods stores of Des Moines, at the time of her death being in the employ of the Mandlebaum store. She was a woman of much business sagacity and enjoyed the confidence of her employers and the esteem and friendship of her associates.

Her remains were sent here Sunday and the funeral services were held from the home of her parents on Monday, Rev. J. W. Stribling conducting same. It was very largely attended by friends of the family. The interment was in North Branch cemetery. In their bereavement, Mr. And Mrs. Prohaska have the heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.
