Lloyd was born on November 15, 1927 in Van Meter, Iowa, the only son of Edward and Nellie Lema (Lint) McNair. He attended Van Meter Schools and graduated from Van Meter High School with the class of 1946. He was the husband of Twyla (Dougherty) McNair. They were united in marriage on June 18, 1947. Five children were born to this union, three daughters and two sons.

He was a long-time resident of Van Meter where he lived most of his adult life on the family farm. He was a farmer and owned a construction business. Most people that know him, would say he was witty and a great story-teller; he was never at a loss for words. Family and friends were always welcome to sit down at the dinner table and share a great meal and good conversation.

He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Edward; grandson, Brandon; and sisters, Dorothy and Rosetta.

He is survived by his wife, Twyla of Earlham; children: Marcy of Johnston, Cindy (Tom) of Clive, Dale (Lori) of Earlham and Dawn (Jerry) of Sand Springs, Oklahoma; daughter-in-law, Gina; sixteen grandchildren; many, many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; sisters, Loris and Kathy; and a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends that will miss him dearly.
