GLENN EARL ESTELL,Norwalk

Glenn Earl Estell, 86, passed away at home on Wednesday June 3, 2015, surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, June 7 at the Indianola First United Methodist Church with burial following in the St. Charles Cemetery, St. Charles, IA.

Earl was born on Easter Sunday March 31, 1929 to Orville Glenn and Emma Ruth Estell in Adair County. He was a graduate of Arispe High School in 1947 and later proudly served his country in the Korean War. After returning, he began working for Frank Paxton Lumber in 1952 until he retired in 1991. On December 6, 1952, Earl married Catherine Jean Smart. They originally lived in Des Moines before moving their family out to the farm, south of Cumming. They began raising Angus cattle in 1966 and it is where they still reside.

Earl had many important roles, but none bigger than being "Poppy" to his grandchildren. He never knew a stranger no matter the place, and his memory for recalling names and phone numbers was nothing short of amazing.

His other activities included being a member of the American Legion in Cumming, the Home Builders Association, the American Angus Association as well as the Warren County Angus Association. He was also a 54 year member of the Auburn - Union Park Masonic Lodge, the Scottish Rite, and the Za-Ga-Zig Shrine in Des Moines.

Earl is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Cathy; five children, Rick (Holly) Estell, Dennis Estell, Diana (Dale) Smith, Peggy (Thad) Bloom, and Marsha (Frank) Coffman; his 13 grandchildren; and 21 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn and Emma Estell; sister, Peggy Estell; as well as other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be held 1 to 3 p.m., Sunday, June 7 at the church prior to services. Memorial contributions may be directed to HCI Care Services of Osceola or the Warren County Fair Association. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Peggy, Kim, Tonya, Tiffany and Marsha of HCI Care Services of Osceola. Online condolences may be made at www.overtonfunerals.com.
