Sarah Jane Caskey was born in Indiana May 7, 1849 and died at her home near Bevington, Dec. 25, 1919 at the age of 70 years, 7 months and 18 days. She was united in marriage to Eli Landers, July 2, 1868.
There are left to mourn the loss of a kind and loving wife and mother, the husband, two sons, four daughters, 19 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, a half sister and half brother. The children are: Lanson F. of Rocky Ford, Colo,; Mrs. Cora Cason, of Des Moines; Mrs. Nellie Stanton of Stuart; Mrs. Carrie McGinnis of Indianola; Mrs. Bertha Cumming of St. Charles and Nevin of Winterset. One daughter, Mrs. Rosa E. Alexander preceded her mother to the better land 16 years ago.
Mrs. Landers united with the Methodist church at an early age and remained a faithful member to the end.
The funeral services were conducted at Union Chapel church Saturday by Rev. Godard and the remains were laid to rest in the cemetery near the church.
