Sarah Elizabeth Fife Kale, was born in Madison county, about 4 and 1/2 miles north of Truro, March 1, 1860 and died March 8, 1930, age 70 years 7 days. She was the daughter of Samuel and Francis A. White Fife.

In early girlhood she was converted and joined the M. E. Church and about 35 years ago she and her husband joined the Christian Church at Truro. She was united in marriage to E. E. Kale, near Winterset, January 16, 1883. They lived there about 5 years after their marriage then bought a farm 2 miles north of Truro, living there with the exception of one year in Truro. They then moved to Truro where they have lived the past 30 years.

Two children were born to this union, W. D. and C. C. Four grandsons, one grandson, Herbert preceded her in death not quite two years ago. (An additional note says "When she was a small child her parents moved to a farm near Winterset")

Sarah Fife Kale

Sarah Elizabeth Fife, daughter of Samuel and Francis White Fife was born near Truro, Madison county, Iowa, March 1, 1860, and passed away at her home in Truro March 8, 1930, aged 70 years and 7 days. When a small child she moved with her parents to a farm near Winterset.

She was united in marriage to E. E. Kale, at Winterset, January 16, 1883, and to this union two sons were born. After their marriage they lived near Winterset for about five years, then moved to a farm two miles north of Truro, where they lived, with the exception of one year, until they came to Truro, where they have made their home for the past thirty years. She was converted and joined the M. E. church in early girlhood. About thirty-five years ago, she, with her husband, united with the Christian church in Truro, where she was a faithful Christian and worker in the church, always interested in its progress, and did all in her power to promote its welfare.

She was an active member of the Christian Ladies Aid society and a charter member of Jonathan Roby Relief Corps.

She leaves a kind, loving husband, two sons, William Dossin and Charlie Curtis, four grandsons, (one grandson, Herbert, preceded her in death less than two years ago), five sisters and two brothers.

Attended Funeral of Sister

Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Bumbarger were called to Truro the last of the week by the death of the latter's sister, Mrs. Sarah E. Kale, wife of E. E. Kale. Mr and Mrs. Kale just returned from a winter spent in California on Wednesday and Mrs. Kale was taken sick on Thursday from acute indigestion. Her death occurred on Saturday at 8:30 from a fatal heart attack. Funeral was held from the family home in Truro Monday afternoon and interment made in the Ebenezer cemetery.

Mrs. Kale is survived by her husband and two sons. Undertaker Wm. Doss Kale of Truro and Chas. Kale also of Truro.
