Former Teacher Here Dies in Chicago

Ila Wright, former Earlham resident, passed away Friday, October 8, after a long illness at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Willard Farr, in Chicago. Funeral services were conducted from the Highland Funeral Home in Des Moines with Charles Whitely, Friends pastor from Grinnell, in charge. Burial was in Memory Gardens, just north of Des Moines.

Surviving him are his widow, Dora Morgan Wright, three daughters: Mrs. Lora Mendenhall of Colorado; Mrs. Mamie Farr of Chicago, and Mrs. Mabel Wilcox of Des Moines; two sons, Griffith of Dubuque, Iowa; and Edwin of Oskaloosa, Iowa; eight grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

For a number of years Mr. Wright taught in the rural schools of Madison and Dallas counties. After having given four of his children a college education, he resumed his formal studies and was graduated from Penn College, Oskaloosa, Iowa at the age of sixty-four years. At the time of his death he was eighty-six years of age.
