Died, in Clarence township, this county, Jan 20th, of a second stroke of paralysis, E. B. Lee, aged 68 years, 11 months, and 23 days. The deceased was born in Licking county, Oh., Jan 27th, 1813. His parents came to Ohio from Loudon county, Va. and were members of the old historical Lee family so celebrated in Virginia annals. At the age of 27 the deceased married Miss Ann Shields who survives him. He moved to Madison county, Ia. in 1862. In 1876 he moved to this county, living for a while in Great Bend and afterward moving to a farm purchased in Clarence Township on which he died. Three sons and three daughters were born to Mr. and Mrs. Lee - John R., who lives in Clarence township, Hamilton who resides in Madison county, Ia., and one son who died in the army - Miss Mattie and Miss Fanny who are teaching school in this county and Mrs. Mary Dabney who with her husband, Wm. H. H. resides in Pottawattomie county, Ia.

Both parents and three sisters of the deceased died of paralysis. The deceased was first stricken last May. On the 18th of Jan he received a second stroke from which he died on the 20th. He had been a member of the M. E. church over 40 years and died in full hope of the resurrection and immortal life in the world to come.

We have known the deceased and his family for many years and with the bereaved widow and fatherless children we mourn the loss of to us a friend and to them a loving husband and affectionate parent.
