Death of Mrs. Mary Bonine

Mary Bonine, one of the older residents of Madison county, died Tuesday night, June 5th, at the home of her son, Ed Simmons, in the Fairview neighborhood. She was past 85 years of age, being born April 9, 1843, in Delaware county, Indiana. She married Joseph D. Simmons in 1861 and they came to this county in 1863. Seven children were born to them, four of whom survive her: William E., of Paonia, Colorado; Nathan Edward, of Fairview; Mrs. Ollie Taggaret and Mrs. Mattie J. Black, of Audubon. Mr. Simmons died in 1877, and in 1884 she was married to Thomas E. Bonine, who passed away in 1909.

Mrs. Bonine has been a member of the Fairview church since it was organized. She leaves besides here two sons and two daughters, eighteen grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren and one brother, Alfred Goff, of Polk City, and three sisters, Mrs. Sarah A. Clements, of Creighton, Nebraska, Mrs. Adeline Anderson, of Clayton, New Mexico, and Mrs. Jane Powell, of Earlham.

The Rev. James Walls conducted the funeral services at the Fairview church, Saturday afternoon, June 9th, and burial was made in the Fairview cemetery.
