Earl G. Linn, who was born to Earl and Bernice (Lenocker) Linn on August 25, 1923, in Penn Center - Madison County, IA, passed away at the age of 91 on May 19, 2015. Visitation will be held Thursday, May 21 from 5 to 7 pm at Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada. Memorial services will be at Memorial Lutheran Church on Friday, May 22 at 10:30 am. Inurnment with military honors will be 2 p.m. at Clayton Family Cemetery, near Van Meter.
Earl attended Van Meter High School. After graduation, he enlisted in the Navy, serving in World War II from 1943 to 1945. Buzz married his childhood sweetheart, Phyllis Clayton, on May 24, 1946. Together, they started farming in 1950 near Waukee and Adel. They also farmed in Elkhart before moving one last time to Nevada where he retired from farming in 1985. Earl and Phyllis raised two boys; Steve and Jerry. He enjoyed church, traveling, ISU basketball and football, a good card game and his family. He and Phyllis enjoyed spending their winters in Arizona and their grandchildren.
Earl is survived by his sons Steve (Jane) and Jerry (Pam); five grandchildren Chad Linn, Heather (Ryan) Brown, Erin (Troy) Miller, Missy (Bryan) Miller and Kari (Darren) Toot and 10 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Phyllis; an infant son; special friend Anna Mae Allen; five brothers and five sisters.
Memorial donations may be made in Earl's memory to Memorial Lutheran Church or St. Jude Hospice.
Bacon Funeral Home in Nevada is handling arrangements.
