After only 52 years, Neal Gerard McLaughlin was called home on Tuesday, November 25, 2014, surrounded by his loving family. Neal was born August 22, 1962 in Des Moines, IA to Raymond Joseph and Agnes Celeste (Kelleher) McLaughlin. He married Charlene Warth on May 28, 1988. Neal loved Iowa State University, the NBA, animals, and most importantly, his family. Neal was an incredibly; loving husband, father, brother, son, and uncle. He was a parishioner of Sacred Heart Catholic Church.
Neal is survived by his wife, Char, children, Matt and Megan McLaughlin; parents, Raymond and Agnes McLaughlin; brothers, Fr. Mike McLaughlin, Rick (Mary) McLaughlin, Brian (Debbie) McLaughlin and Marty (Lisa) McLaughlin; brother-in-laws, Brian Smith and Arlan Herzberg. He joins in Heaven his sisters, Maureen McLaughlin and Diane Herzberg, along with his father-in-law, Joseph Warth.
Mass of the Resurrection will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 29, 2014 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in West Des Moines. Burial will follow at the Irish Settlement Cemetery, Cumming, IA. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:30 p.m., Friday, November 28 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with a Vigil Service to follow. Rosary service will be at 3:45 p.m. prior to the visitation.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the family to be used for their charity of choice.
