STEPHEN KRIEG SULLIVAN

Stephen Krieg Sullivan was born on January 10, 1951 in Des Moines, Iowa to Mary Sullivan (Cooney) and Joe Sullivan. He was called home after a farm accident on February 22, 2015.

He graduated from Holy Trinity, Dowling High School, and received his BA in accounting and business administration from Regis University in 1972. He met Nancy (Lienemann) on a blind date at the Iowa State fair and they chased cows, babies and grandbabies together for 41 years.

His legacy is his four children and thirteen grandchildren: Sarah Sullivan (Nick Bigelow) daughters, Suzanne, Shannon, Sarah Jolenne and Siobhan; son Justin (Johna) and son Dakota; Seth (Allison) and children Sylas, Amelia, Blaise, and Wren; and Sybil (Bryan Heilman) and children, Isaac, Mary, Paul and baby girl to be welcomed in May. He is also survived by loving mother-in-law Ruth Joanne Lienemann, stepfather James Cooney and six devoted siblings.

Steve was a devoted Catholic husband to his wife, father to his children, and Grandpa to his grandchildren. He spent nearly all of his time with his family, relieving tired young parents and assuring them that every stage of parenthood would be more rewarding than the last. He supported their dreams as if they were his own with a contagious charisma, and in doing so has left a vivid legacy for those who hope to join him in heaven.

He founded SJS Cattle Company with Nancy and partnered with Justin and Johna to run a cattle breeding operation in Lucas, IA. He gained great joy in sharing the farm with family and friends. He was always good for a four wheeler drive (helmet, optional), saddling a horse, or splitting a garden wagon by hauling the grandkids up a hill with the lawn tractor.

His family will be receiving visitors at Caldwell Parrish Funeral Home on Thursday, February 26 from 3 pm – 7 pm and his Funeral Mass will be said at Holy Trinity Parish on Friday, February 27 at 10:30 am. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be sent to the Blue Ribbon Foundation at the Iowa State Fair or Catholic Tuition Organization.
