CECIL PORTER OF WINTERSET DIES

Cecil Porter of Winterset died this Monday Nov 1, at Memorial hospital here. He was 42 years of age and had been in delicate health for about two years.

Mr. Porter was born at Greenfield Jan 12, 1923 a son of James and Fern Porter but had lived most of his life in Madison county. Until 1962 he worked as a construction foreman.

He was a veteran of World War II and was affiliated with the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member of the Baptist church.

Mr. Porter was married June 19, 1949 to Dorothy Frey of Winterset who survives him. He also leaves four sons, Steven, aged 15, Gary 14, Danny 12, and Mark. 10. His mother and stepfather Mr. and Mrs. William Farwell of Des Moines, a brother, James Porter of Winterset, and three sisters, Mrs. Ruth Lucas of San Bernadino, Calif., Mrs. Dorothy Allen of Wasco, Calif., and Mrs. Joy Croat of Liberty, Mo.

Funeral services will be held this Thursday at 2 p. m. from the Collins Funeral home in Winterset conducted by the Rev. H. E. Borum, pastor of the First Baptist church of Winterset. Burial will be made in Loucks Grove cemetery in Adair county, with military ritual at the grave-side by the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
