Everett (Jim) R. Chance, 73, passed away on Tuesday, April 21, 2015 at Altoona Nursing and Rehabilitation Center. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, April 25, 2015 at McLaren's Chapel with a funeral service at 11 a.m. Burial will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens in Des Moines.
Everett was born May 7, 1941 in Earlham, IA to William (Bill) and Bernice Chance. He was a mechanic for various car dealerships, owned Everett's Automotive and two gas stations. Everett was a member of the Odd Fellows Lodge. He enjoyed yardwork, gardening, woodworking, dye cast collectables and spending time with his family.
Everett is survived by his wife, Sally Chance of Des Moines; four children, Steve (Laurie) Chance of Bagley, Craig (Penny) Chance of Perry, Theresa Webb of Des Moines and Terry Chance of Kansas City, MO; thirteen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters and one brother.
