August 20, 1973Mrs. Lula Fleming dies in city at 92
Mrs. Lula E. Fleming, 92, died at the Pioneer Home Sunday morning.
The funeral will be held at the Glende-Johnson-Nelson chapel Tuesday at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Robert Kendall and the Rev. Emery L. Wallace officiating. Burial will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Dent.
Mrs. Fleming was born June 17, 1881 at Macksburg, Iowa, a daughter of William and Clara Wright. She was married to Clarence Sime (Mike) Fleming Sept. 1, 1899. The family moved from Iowa to South Dakota in 1907 and homesteaded and Stanley County.
In 1910 they moved to North Dakota where they pioneered in farming and Mrs. Fleming taught school a few of the 10 years they lived there. In 1920 they moved to Fergus Falls where Mr. Fleming was engaged in auctioneering and she in dressmaking.
Mrs. Fleming was a member of the Royal Neighbors and Grace United Methodist Church.
Surviving are a son, William Frank Fleming of Mott, N. D., two daughters, Mrs. Keith (Chloe) Carver of Underwood and Mrs. Carroll (Olla) Elliott of Dubuque, Iowa, eight grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Mr. Fleming died November 30, 1952.
