John P. Dick died on Tuesday morning April 7th, 1896, of cancer of the stomach. Deceased was a pioneer of Madison County, having lived here for about thirty years and was highly respected by all who knew him. He has suffered for some time with cancer of the stomach. He was up and around until Sunday and was in Truro on last Saturday.

The funeral was held at the Oak Run church on Wednesday and he was then taken to the Union cemetery where he was laid away until the resurrection morn.
