OBITUARY

DEWEY E. MCKEE

Dewey Edmundson McKee, second son of John R. and Mary Ellen McKee, died Dec. 9, 1977, at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center where he had been a resident nine days. He had been in failing health for several years.

He was born June 24, 1898, near Peru. He attended public schools at Peru and at the age of 16 moved with his parents to a farm near Republican City, Neb.

H was united in marriage to Virginia A. Hoover Jan. 3, 1922, at Alma, Neb. The young couple returned to Iowa and lived on a farm 3 miles southwest of Indianola.

To this union were born six children: John R. of Indianola, Dewey Judson of Norwalk, Wanda Dyer, who preceded him in death, Rosalie Flesher of Des Moines, Marcie Stoppel of Oakely, Kans., and Lulu Bell McGuire of Lakeland, Fla.

Dewey retired from farming in 1940 and the family moved to Indianola where he was engaged in the livestock business for several years.

He is survived by his wife, Virginia; children, and one sister, Margaret Hulen of Indianola, 15 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services were conducted Dec. 12 at the Peterson Funeral Home with John W. Long officiating. Interment was in the Indianola IOOF Memorial Gardens.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Monday at Peterson’s Funeral Home in Indianola for Dewey Mckee, 79, of Indianola, who died Friday at the Good Samaritan Center in Indianola.

Mr. McKee was a retired livestock businessman.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; two sons, John of Indianola, and Dewey of Norwalk; three daughters, Rosalie Flesher of Des Moines, Marcie Stoppel of Oakley, Kan., and Lulu Belle McGuire of Lakeland, Fla.; a sister Margaret Hulen of Indianola; and 15 grandchildren.

Services for Dewey McKee Held Today

Funeral services for Dewey McKee, 79, of 1004 S. Jefferson, were held this afternoon at the Peterson Funeral Home. Burial was in the Indianola IOOF Memorial Gardens.

Mr. McKee died early Friday at the Indianola Good Samaritan Center where he had been a resident for the past nine days.

A native of Peru, he had been a Warren County resident 55 years. He was a retired farmer and stock buyer.

Survivors include his wife, Virginia; three daughters, Mrs. Rosalie Flesher of Des Moines, Mrs. Marcie Stoppel of Oakley, Kans., and Mrs. Lulu Belle McGuire of Lakeland, Fla.; two sons, John R. McKee of Indianola and Dewey J. McKee of Norwalk; 15 grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, and a sister, Mrs. Margaret Hulen of Indianola.
