Our Heavenly Father, in His infinite wisdom, has again called one of His children home.

Irene Norton, the youngest daughter of Nathaniel and Gertrude Norton, was born at Rhodes, Iowa, in Marshall county, December 7, 1903, and in the early morning of February 16, 1959, after almost a month of illness, peacefully answered the great summons.

When a small child, the family moved to Zearing, Iowa, and Irene grew up in that community, attendeding the Zearing schools and later graduating from Iowa State Teachers College -- teaching and doing substitute teaching for many years. She taught at Manning, Webster City and Earlham.

She was united in marriage to J. Stanley Williamson on December 24, 1927. They began their home in the stone house in the north part of Earlham, and later built their home on the farm. Two sons were born to this union, John Norton and Jim Alan.

In early girl-hood Irene accepted Christ as her Savior, and her life has been one of true and consistent Christian service, particularly expressed by her work in the Friends church of which she was a loyal member. She was interested in the schools and every endevor for community betterment, and did her part in the Cosmopolitan Study Club of which whe has long been a member.

She was a loving daughter, bringing her Mother to Earlham and caring for her after the death of her father. Hers was a full life, beautifully lived for others. She leaves to mourn her going from among us a devoted husband, two sons, one sister, Orpha Hankins, of Zearhing, Iowa, relatives and a host of friends.

The funeral service was held in the local Friends church on Wednesday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock, with the pastor, L. Willard Reynolds, officiating. Music was furnished by Gertrude Conrad and Alma Mapes, with Betty Maxwell at the organ. Casket bearers were Hugh Ramsey, Beryl Kenworthy, Clyde Brittain, Wallace Jackson, L. R. Goeldner and Donald Prior. Interment was in the Earlham cemetery.
