Benjamin Leston Allen, son of James Madison and Sarah Francis Allen, was born in the vicinity of Elm Grove, Madison Co., Iowa, July 6, 1881, and passed away at his home north west of Murray, Iowa, August 18, 1931, aged 50 years 1 month and 12 days. He grew to manhood in the vicinity where he was born.

On May 18, 1905 he was united in marriage near Truro, Iowa to Miss Eva Phillips and to this union were born six children, Ruth, who passed away five years ago July at the age of 20 years, Harold, Nola, Wendall, Edwin and Bernard. He with his family lived near Truro for eight years and for the last 18 years have lived near Murray.
