George Pratt, one of the oldest citizens of the county, died at his home in the southwest part of the city Monday, of cancer of the stomach.

The funeral was at the residence Wednesday afternoon. Mr. Pratt was an old resident of Lincoln township, where 2 of his sons now live.

George Pratt was born near Boston, Mass., Oct. 14, 1827 and died at Winterset, Iowa, Jan. 19, 1908, age 81 years. He was married to Rebecca Luckhart, Aug. 30, 1860. He came to Iowa in the year of 1868 and located in Madison county where they have lived to the present time. He was an upright and honest man in all his dealings, a kind neighbor and loving father and loved by all who knew him. He is survived by a wife and four children who were all present at his bedside at the time of his death. They are Edward Pratt, Mrs. Nelle Paullin, Mrs. Martha Luckhart, and Wm. Pratt, all residing in Madison county.
