Edna was born on September 22, 1919 in St. Charles, Iowa, the daughter of Charles and Mabel (Hess) Clarke. She graduated from St. Charles High School in 1937. On June 7, 1938, she was united in marriage to Delmar Ransom Shreves and to this union were born 2 children: Jacquelyn and Larry. Edna and Delmar felt like they lived in the Golden Years. They built their beloved home in 1956 and “haven’t moved a board in 50 years!” They enjoyed farming, gardening, taking trips together, and time spent with their friends and family. Edna and Delmar were married for 42 years before his death on March 24, 1981.
On July 19, 1987, Edna married Finis Keeton. She and Finis enjoyed 18 years of marriage. Together Edna and Finis enjoyed the winters in Texas, dancing, taking trips together, visiting family in other states, gardening, and enjoying Edna’s home right outside of St. Charles.
Edna worked at Farm Bureau in Des Moines for several years and enjoyed her winter trips to Texas each year to reunite with friends and neighbors. She was also a member of the St. Charles Parish and served 18 years as a (MYF) youth leader. Edna also traveled thousands of miles around the world with her dear friends and was an energetic companion who enjoyed every detail of every state and country she visited.
Preceding her in death, along with her parents and husbands were four sisters: Lyla Waller, Norma Jean Lunnon, Dorothea Edmonds, and Cleo Roby, a grand-daughter Sherri Lynn McKinney and a son-in-law Francis McKinney.
Those left to cherish her memory are her daughter Jacquelyn McKinney of St. Charles, Iowa; son Larry Shreves and wife, Ceceilia of St. Charles, Iowa; step daughter and step son, Sally Dodd and John Keeton of Texas, eight grandchildren: Mark and Laurie McKinney, Janna and Doug Helton, Tim and Kelly McKinney, Lynnette and Pete Shafer, Matthew and Stacie McKinney, Elizabeth and Nathan Worsham, Troy and Twila Shreves, Kim and Scott Leichty, 26 great grandchildren, and 2 great great grandchildren; brothers: Charles (Sonny) and wife, Mary Ann of Beatrice, Nebraska; Norm Clarke of Waukee, Iowa; Phil Clarke and wife, Carol of Osceola, Iowa; Jerry and wife, Charlotte of Truro, Iowa; and sister Judy and husband, Ross Bedwell of St. Charles, Iowa.
