Word of the death of Mabel Griffin Compton has been received by local relatives. Mrs. Compton died at Holtville, California on December 31. She was born and lived near Earlham until she was nine years old when she moved with her parents to Paonia, Colorado. She later returned here and attended school at the old Academy in 1893. She was the wife of Charlie Compton, a former Earlham boy.
