Earlham Echo
Earlham, Iowa
Thursday, April 14, 1938Inez V. Reece was born to Fred P. and Atta M. Latson at Clam Falls, Wisconsin, October 10, 1885 and united with the M. E. Church there when 13 years of age.
She moved with her parents to New Providence, Iowa, when she was seventeen.
For a number of years she served as pianist, Sunday School teacher and so on at New Providence, much of that time serving two churches.
She was united in marriage to Waldo H. Reece April 19, 1909.
For four years they lived in a little bungalow of their own building on his father’s farm.
In 1913 they went to Greenville as pastors where she united with the Friends church and for five years served this church, then went to Arnolds Park for four years, then to Lynnville for two and back to the Park for six more.
In 1930 they resigned their work there on account of her health and did not resume their pastoral service until coming to Earlham three and a half years ago.
Mrs. Reece’s attitude toward pastoral service was as intensely sympathetic that her physical strength was not equal to the strain. It no doubt shortened her life in years but tremendously enlarged it in service to the people she lived among.
Her sunny smile and perpetual optimism lightened many a discouraged heart. Her sane sympathetic counsel caused many to take heart again.
In all her married life there never was a cross word or unkind expression.
She leaves to mourn her loss a husband, one sister, Flo L. Braillier of Terrill, and four children, Bernard N. of New Providence, Mildred P. of Webb, Vernon K. and Maynard F. of Earlham.
