DENNIS LYTTON, Winterset

Dennis Lytton, 57, of Winterset died Tuesday, March 3, 2015 at his home in Winterset.

A visitation will be held 2:00 to 7:00 p.m., Friday, March 6 at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, where family will be present to receive friends from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. A funeral service will begin at 10:30 a.m., Saturday, March 7 at Ochiltree Funeral Service with burial to immediately follow at the Winterset Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the VFW Hall in Winterset following the burial. Memorials may be directed to the family and online condolences may be left for the family at ochiltree.com.

Dennis Paul Lytton, the son of Dale and Gertrude (Johnson) Lytton, was born February 23, 1958 in Osceola, Iowa. He graduated from I-35 High School in 1976 and later went on to Ellsworth College where he wrestled.  

Dennis worked at the Kinder Morgan Pipeline for 36 years. He knew the grounds like the back of his hand and was often called to help in a variety of situations. He met his wife, Brenda at a video store where she worked and the couple was united in marriage January 7, 2004 in Winterset.

Dennis was a true conversationalist who never knew anyone to be a stranger. He was a jack of all trades and was always willing to help his family and friends no matter the task. He mentored anyone who was willing to work and learn. Dennis was an avid motocross racer and a member of the District 22 Racing Club. He was also a firearm enthusiast who enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing or splitting wood with his sons. Dennis enjoyed riding horses with his daughter Tessa.  He liked watching Top Gear, The Big Bang Theory, and the History Channel on TV and was a loyal listener of NPR radio.  Dennis was also an aviation enthusiast which became an active hobby. He liked his rock n’ roll, Metallica in particular, and recently attended a Drop Kick Murphy concert with his son, Jordan. Dennis was a loving husband and father who treasured the time he was able to spend with his family.

He is survived by his wife, Brenda Lytton of Winterset; children, Tara Parks of Colfax, Tessa Lytton of Leavenworth, WA, Jace Dahlgren of Macksburg, and Jordan (Deaven) Lytton of Hanley; grandchildren, Randall Parks, JordanDakota Dennis Lytton; and coming soon, Beckett Dahlgren; step-mom, Jeri Lytton of Osceola; brothers, Gary (Janet) Lytton of Nebraska and Russell (Lisa) Lytton of Texas; sister, Crystal (Vince) Proudfoot of St. Charles; nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Robert Lytton.
