Mrs. Mary M. Welty of Webster Township, died on the 3rd inst. Mrs. Welty was the daughter of Peter and Christina Schnellbacher, and was born in Germany in 1829. When a child, she came with her parents to America. In 1843 she was married to Peter Welty, in Ohio. She was an early settler in Madison County. She was a life long member of the Evangelist Association, and died in the assured trust of a Christian. Mrs. Welty was the mother of Emmanuel and John Welty, and Mrs. Matt Hart and Mrs. Miles Hart. Her husband died in 1882. She had also a number of other relatives in the neighborhood including the Schnellbacher, Krell and Wissler families.

Mrs. Welty, of Webster township, an old lady of about eighty, died last Wednesday morning. She had been ill, but was not supposed to be seriously so until she was suddenly taken worse during the night. She was the mother of E.M. and J. A. Welty. The funeral was held yesterday at the Oak Grove Evangelical church.

Mother Welty, who was reported sick last week, died the morning of the fourth of January. She leaves several grown children to mourn her death. Rev. Force was to deliver the funeral discourse, but was unable to do so and it was posponed (postponed) till some future time. She was buried at the Welty cemetery.
