Mabel Eunice, daughter of Chas. A. and Margaret Stanley was born on a farm near Earlham, April 16, 1893 and departed this life August 11, 1937, at the home of her sister, Mrs. Gerry Hougham, age 44 years, three months and 26 days.

Her early days were spent on the farm where she enjoyed her school and playmates.

She was united in marriage to Carl Cook, March 8, 1917. To this union was born three daughters, Gladys Margaret, Helen Maxine and Alma Berneice.

Their early married life was spent on a farm near Earlham until the spring of 1929 when they moved near Cambridge, Iowa.

She loved farm life, but thinking rest might restore her health, they moved to Ames early this spring. She did not gain her strength and for the past eight weeks was confined to her bed.

Mable loved and enjoyed life, her motto being “Service for others.” Her greatest interest was centered in her home and family and though weary in body, they were never neglected.

Only those who were constantly at her bedside can know the infinite patience and hopefulness that were hers to the very hour of passing, which came quietly and peacefully.

Early in life she was converted and united with the church, remaining true and faithful, ever ready and willing to do her Master’s will.

We cannot see beyond the veil and know why one in the prime of life should be taken, but we believe the “He doeth all things well.”

She leaves to mourn her loss, her husband, daughters, father and mother, three sisters, eight brothers, many nieces and nephews, cousins, and a large circle of friends.
