Page 1The remains of B. Hathaway who passed away at his home in Beach, North Dakota, were brought to Kingsley on Monday of last week and taken to Pierson on Tuesday where funeral services were held at the Christian Church, followed by interment in the cemetery there.
Death was caused by pneumonia followed by a complication of other ailments of long standing, which took advantage of his enfeebled condition to give the signal to the grim destroyer to give the gallant fighter for life his death blow.
Mr. Hathaway was in his 72nd year, he having reached that milepost June 21st, last. Some five weeks ago he contracted pneumonia and then complications set in that could not be overcome, and he passed peacefully to a well earned reward last Friday.
He leaves a wife and six children: Mrs. Edith Mitchell of Scotland, South Dakota; George I. Hathaway of Pierson, Iowa; E.D. Hathaway of Kingsley; Ray and Glenn Hathaway of Beach, North Dakota; and Mrs. Eva Royer of Kingsley; also an older sister, Mrs. Sara H. VanHorn of Des Moines, Iowa, a brother, Ike Hathaway of Mason City, Iowa, many grandchildren and three great grandchildren. the body was accompanied to Iowa by his three sons, Ed, Ray and Glen.
