Goldie Marie Blair

Goldie Marie Blair, 92, of Redfield passed away February 6, 2015 at Adel Acres Care Center. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Wednesday, February 11, at Bear Creek Church – Rural Redfield. Visitation will be held prior to the service at the church from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Wednesday. Burial will follow the service in Wiscotta Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Bear Creek Church and may be sent in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home. Online condolences may be left at www.johnsonfamilyfuneralhome.com .

Goldie was born near Earlham to John A. and Mabel B. (Addy) Dennis on January 14, 1923. She attended schools in Dallas County, graduating from Redfield High School in 1941. After graduation she worked at Solar Aircraft plant in Des Moines operating huge presses making parts for the war effort. After a short employment at Maytag in Newton, a job with a furrier company transferred her to Sioux City, Iowa. There she met and married Raymond Hennessey. To this union her daughter Judy and son Denny were born. In 1955 the family moved to California seeking better employment. Returning to Dallas County in 1965 and later taking classes at Iowa State she was employed at Dallas County Care facility as a cook.

In 1970 she married Bert Knapp and together they built her present house. Bert passed away in October of 1973. In February of 1984 she married George (Red) Blair of Granger. They were involved in many local activities including American Legion of Redfield, Neighbor Watch, and the Share Food program. Red passed away in August of 1998.

Goldie is proceeded in death by her parents, two brothers; Marion Dennis and Glenn Aldrich, one daughter Judy, husbands; Ray, Bert, and George, three sisters in law; Avis Dennis, Ramona Aldrich, and Kay Aldrich.

Goldie is survived by her son Denny Hennessey, two grandchildren; Micah Hennessey and Arianna Hennessey, several step Grandchildren of Colorado, four brothers; Stewart (Marilyn) Aldrich of Waukee, Wayne (Ruby) Aldrich of Adel, Marlyn Aldrich of Des Moines, Vernon (Jean) Aldrich of Dallas Center, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

The Family would like to thank the staff at Adel Acres in Adel for their excellent care and love to Goldie and the family.
