MRS. SARAH McCONNOLEE, AGED RESIDENT DIES AT 90 YEARS OF AGE

Mrs. Sarah McConnolee passed away early Sunday morning at her home in St. Charles. Had she lived until March 12, she would have been 91 years of age. She had been in failing health for several months and had been cared for by her daughter, Mrs Allie Davis with whom she made her home.

Funeral services were held at the Methodist church Monday afternoon in charge of Rev. Carnahan of the United Presbyterian church assisted by Rev Barker with burial in the Winterset cemetery.

NONAGENARIAN DIES – IN CO. MANY YEARS

Mrs. Sarah J. McConnelee died Sunday morning at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Allie Davis, in St. Charles after a brief illness. She would have been 91 March 12.

Mrs. McConnelee’s maiden name was Sarah Potter and she came to Madison county with her parents, John and Jane Potter, who settled near the present town of Patterson. She was married to James H. McConnelee February 5, 1868 and lived several years on a farm in Scott township.

After the Rock Island railroad was built through Patterson they operated a store there in the early seventies, later trading the store to Butler Bird for a farm in Union township where they lived until selling the farm and moving to Winterset.

Mr. McConnelee died in 1901. Mrs. McConnelee then moved to a farm in Ohio township, her daughter, Mrs. Davis, and family living with her. A few years ago and moved to St. Charles.

Funeral services were held in the Methodist church conducted by the Rev. Carnahan, her neighbor, assisted by the Rev. D. F. Barker. Burial was in the Winterset cemetery.

She leaves her adopted daughter, Mrs. Davis, four grandchildren, ten great grandchildren and a great great-grandchild. U. S. Potter, of Orange, California, is a nephew, and Mrs. Lyman Fogler and Mrs. Mahan are nieces.
