JOHN WRIGHT, MISSISSIPPI

John Victor Wright, 79, formerly of Winterset, died Tuesday, Dec. 2, 2014, at his home in Brandon, Mississippi.

John Victor Wright was born on Feb. 11, 1935, to the late Willie Walton Wright and Maude Fanning Wright. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electrical Engineering from Mississippi State University in 1962. John Victor served as Vice President of Sales for Grip-Tite Manufacturing Company for over 30 years before retiring in 2005. His proudest accomplishment during his tenure at Grip-Tite was developing and patenting along with Ray Parker, the Wall Anchor System that is still produced and used today. A former school board member and a member of the Rotary Club, he lived in Winterset from 1975-1983.

He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Linda Sorenson Wright; his son Todd Wright of Las Vegas, NV; his daughter, Christina Wright of Flowood, Miss.; his sister, Jane Wright Oaks (Jerry) of Brandon; and his brother, Willie Wright of Dallas, Texas, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorials may be made to Camp Ruby in care of Calvary Baptist Church, Jackson, Mississippi.
