Luther Alexander, son of Samuel and Katherine Alexander was born in Greencastle, Pa., November 14, 1869. In his early days he came with his brothers John and James to Des Moines, and later they moved to Earlham, where he has made his home for many years.

He became a member of the Presbyterian Church, always giving earnest consecration to the Master’s service.

He was married to Jeanette Duff December 30, 1896. Later moving to Earlham to their new home, here their only son was born. About twenty years ago they moved to Dexter. Mr. Alexander had been failing in health for two years. His recent sickness flu, affected his mind, so he had to be taken to Guthrie Center hospital for better treatment. He died three days later, December 27, 1928. His life was simple, plain and unobtrusive. He was devoted to his home, always ready to sacrifice his own comforts for the welfare of others. His wife died four days later. From the first he was resigned to his fate. In the beginning of his sickness he exhibited patience and resignation.

He leaves one son, nieces and nephews and a host of other friends to mourn his loss. Surely a good life has gone out from among us, a life full of good deeds with a clear record morality, socially and religiously. Always accomplishing something in the Master’s name, without show or boasting striving to perform duty.

Services were conducted by the Rev. Cutler, of the Congregational Church of Stuart.
