Mrs. Augusta M. Wilkie was born August 25, 1857 in Reed Township at Gutenburg, in Clayton County, Iowa and departed this life Dec. 23, 1927, aged 70 years, 3 months and 28 days.

She was married to Mr. Fred Wilkie in June, 1878. To this union three sons were born, Edward and Louie and the husband having preceded her in death. The family moved to this vicinity in 1893 and she has resided here ever since.

Early in life she was confirmed and confessed Christ, united with the Lutheran Church and later transferring her membership to the Presbyterian Church. She has endeavored to live a consistent Christian life. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother. She leaves to mourn her departure one son, Fred with whom she lived, one stepson Henry, of Postville, Iowa; two sisters, Mrs. Mary Kegle and Mrs. Tina Weber, a brother Albert Zieman and nine grandchildren.

Mrs. Wilkie had been in declining health for about a year. Her last affliction was heart trouble. Her son and daughter-in-law were at her bedside when her soul passed on to the great beyond.

Funeral services were conducted Monday morning at 10 o’clock at the Earlham Presbyterian Church conducted by Rev. Peter Bock. Interment was in Earlham Cemetery.
