Marion K. Smith, 62, of Lorimor, died Monday, Nov. 17, 2014, at his home.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 22, at Ochiltree Funeral Service in Winterset, with burial to follow in the Lorimor Cemetery. A visitation will be held from 2 to 7 p.m., Friday, Nov. 21, at Ochiltree Funeral Service, where family will be present to receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Memorials may be directed to the family for later distribution.
Marion Keith Smith was born Sept. 26, 1952, in Creston, Iowa, the son of Wesley and Norma (Green) Smith. He grew up in Lorimor, and graduated from East Union High School. Marion later graduated from Southwestern Community College with a degree in mechanical drafting. He worked most his life in retail and managed two Circle B hardware stores, Payless Cashways, and the Family Center and worked at the Community Care Center – now West Bridge Care and Rehabilitation – where he met his wife, Mary. Marion married Mary (Kerns) Smith on Aug. 14, 1999, in the Lorimor City Park.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Norma Smith; and son, Dustin Smith.
He is survived by his wife, Mary Smith of Lorimor; father, Wesley Smith of Lorimor; children, David (Meredith) Smith of Silverthorne, Colo., Andrea Smith of Lorimor, Corey Smith of Grimes; step children Justin (Julie) Neas of Kellerton, Rebecca (LeRoy) Lilly of Winterset, Jonathan (Jill) Neas of Urbandale; 12 grandchildren; siblings Patty (Bill) Koob of Russellville, Ala., Marvin (Roxanne) Smith of Conway, Janell (Dennis) Chenoweth of Afton; and many other relatives and a host of friends
