Earlham Echo – Earlham, Iowa
December 27, 1923

Elizabeth Brubaker was born near Greencastle, Pa., on July 30th, 1826 and departed this life at her home in Earlham Dec. 19, 1923 at the age of 97 years, 4 months and 19 days. On July 7, 1863 she was united in marriage to Joseph R. Fulton.

No children were born to this union but she filled a mother’s place for many years in caring for her sister’s motherless children. Taking them in babyhood they never knew the difference between her kind and motherly care and influence and what their own mother would have been. Since the death of her husband in 1886 the baby girls whom she so tenderly took into her home and reared to womanhood have tried in every way possible to pay the debt, for they have taken her into their own family circles and no one could have received better care in her declining days.

With Mr. and Mrs. Duff with whom she resided and Mr. and Mrs. Irvin who showed her every kind consideration they possibly could her position in her later years was certainly all she could desire.

She possessed of a cheerful disposition, marvelous patience, always thoughtful of others and her life was constantly hid with Christ in God.

She had a brilliant memory which she retained till the end of a long and fruitful life.

Those who lived in closest contact with her rise up and call her blessed.

She leaves to mourn one sister, Rebecca Etter, of Mercerburg, Pa., and a host of relatives and friends.
