BEVERLY HARMON, Earlham

Beverly Harmon, 78, of Earlham passed away at her home on Monday, November 10, 2014. Memorial Gathering will be Friday, November 14th at the Johnson Family Funeral Home in Earlham. Family will be greeting friends at 10:30 A.M. and a time of sharing will begin at 11 AM. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Beverly Harmon Memorial Fund, in care of Johnson Family Funeral Home, PO Box 246, Stuart, IA 50250. Beverly was born December 24, 1935 to Royal and Nora Reed McNelly on a farm near Greenfield, Iowa. She grew up in Menlo and attended Menlo High School. After graduation she worked as a house-sitter for a family in Des Moines. She then moved to Quincy, Illinois. When she returned back to Iowa she was employed at Preferred Risk Insurance Company in Des Moines. Beverly also pet set for many friends throughout the years. After her retirement she settled in Earlham where she has lived for the last several years.

Beverly enjoyed baking cakes and pies, cross-stitching, reading, playing a good game of bingo and doing puzzles. She liked to go on road trips with relatives where she enjoyed shopping. She was a member of the Earlham Church of Christ and loved visiting with her neighbors in Earlham.

She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Bethean and brother-in-law, Robert Thornburg.

She is survived by her sisters: Evelyn Maas of Stuart and Ruth Thornburg of Menlo; step-son, Larry Harmon of Texas; nieces and nephews: Ron (Nyla) Maas of Menlo, Don Maas of Stuart, Judy Van Winkle of Earlham; great-nieces and nephews: Ann Maas, Stacy Wagner, Donald Maas, Cheryl Marks, Rick Van Winkle, Chris Thornburg, Willis (Pam) Thornburg, Tanya Harler and Brad Heer; three step-children and a host of other family and friends that will miss her dearly.
