Page 1Death came to Van Stevens, 74, long time Taney County resident, Monday night after an illness of many months and he was laid to rest in the Branson Cemetery Tuesday afternoon under the direction of the Whelchel Funeral Home.
Services were held at the family home at Table Rock, by Rev. George F. Bell of Hollister.
Mr. Stevens was considered one of Taney county's most successful farmers and had accumulated considerable property both farm and city. He was known by his friends as an honest and upright citizen, a man to be depended upon.
Besides his wife he leaves two daughters, Miss Ruth Stevens Hollister teacher and Miss Edith both of the home and one grand-daughter, and one sister living in Des Moines.
_________________________Transcriber notes: The 1870 and 1880 census shows Van living in Scott Twp. Madison County with his parents. Burial was in the Branson City Cemetery, Missouri.
