Lucy Jane Umbenhover was born at Bussey, Iowa, November 6th, 1848, and died March 27, 1928 at Lovilla, Iowa, aged 79 years, 4 months and 21 days.
In 1871 she was united in marriage to James McGee, and to this union were born eleven children, five of whom died in early life. Her husband died September 29, 1892. The surviving children are Dan McGee, Lovilla; Charles McGee, Valley Junction; Mrs. Rebecca Bechtold, New London, Missouri; Mrs. Philena Sumpter, Van Meter; Mrs. Minnie Williams, Winterset, and Mrs. Maude Shafer, Adel. She leaves twenty-three grandchildren and five great grandchildren.
In 1904 she was again united in marriage to John Nelson Bringham, of Adel, who preceded her in death in 1919. Mrs. Bringham was a kind and loving wife and mother, always doing kind deeds for others and was loved by all who knew her. She was stricken with illness March 25, and everything that loving hands could do to save her was done.
Funeral services were held at the Methodist church in De Soto, Friday, March 30th, at one o’clock, conducted by the pastor, Rev. James Walls, after which her body was placed by her husband, James McGee, at the De Soto cemetery.
