Mrs. Melissa Fields, daughter of Richard Bruce, died at the Bruce home just west of town on Sunday evening after a long illness. Mrs. Fields will be remembered by many of the older settlers having lived here many years ago. On Tuesday her remains were taken to Manhattan, Kansas, to be laid beside those of her husband. She is survived by four children, two sons and two daughters, all of whom are grown to mature years.
