Margaret M. Mease - Winterset

Jul. 27, 1925 - Oct. 2, 2014

Margaret M. Mease, 89, of Winterset, Iowa, died Thursday, October 2, 2014 at the Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, October 6, at the First United Methodist Church in Winterset with Rev. Dr. Beverlee Bell officiating. Burial will be in the Winterset Cemetery at Winterset.

Margaret was born on July 27, 1925, at Oskaloosa, Iowa to Hubert and Marjorie (Jamison) Steddom. At an early age her family moved to Winterset. Margaret graduated from Winterset High School in 1943 and later married Jack Mease on December 4, 1945 at Winterset. She started her working career helping her husband, Jack, on the farm near Peru. After moving to Winterset, she served as office manager for North Ward Plaza for 21 years, and then worked with Jack at JaMar Antiques for 17 years. She had been a member of the First United Methodist Church, the Antique Club, and Friends of the Winterset Public Library. She enjoyed playing in bridge clubs, and was an avid reader.

Margaret is survived by her sons, Jerry (Vicki) Mease of Winterset and Daniel (special friend Janice) Mease of Decorah; sister, Barbara McKinzie of Denver, CO; grandchildren, Kevin (Wendy) Mease, Jennifer Hannon, Jeffrey (Chasity) Mease, Jason (special friend Mary Jo) Mease, and Kelsey Mease; and great grandchildren, Brooke, Jack, Jessica, Jared, and Jayden.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Hubert and Marjorie (Jamison) Steddom; husband, Jack Mease; and son, David Mease. Visitation will be Sunday from noon to 6 PM at McCalley-Collins Funeral Home with family receiving friends from 4 to 6 PM.

Memorials may be directed to the First United Methodist Church or the Madison County Memorial Hospital.
