Noel B. Wight - Winterset

May 10, 1955 - Sept. 29, 2014

Noel B. Wight, 59, of Winterset, Iowa, died Monday, September 29, 2014 at Madison County Memorial Hospital in Winterset. A celebration of life service will be held 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 4, 2014, at the First United Methodist Church with Rev. Dr. Beverlee Bell officiating.

Noel was born on May 10, 1955, at Winterset, Iowa to Bernard and Frances (Reimann) Wight. He had been a lifetime resident of Winterset and was a 1973 graduate of Winterset High School. Noel was married on May 19, 2001 at Winterset to Betty Jane Allison.

He had been an automotive mechanic for many years and then held various retail positions. Noel served with the Winterset Fire Department and was an EMT. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Madison County Historical Society, Friends of the Winterset Public Library, and AA, serving as a speaker for groups. Noel enjoyed skydiving and was a Civil War re-enactor, studying military history.

Noel is survived by his father, Bernard Wight of Winterset; wife, Jane Wight of Winterset; step-children, Janie Stearns of Shenandoah, Gordon Williams of Winterset, and Larkin Boatwright of Winterset; brother, Mark (Jennifer) Wight of Springfield, Illinois; sister, Cristal (Murray) Smith of Mooresville, North Carolina; and step-grandchildren, Hannah, Alison, Liam, and Sienna.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Frances Wight.

Family will receive friends from 9 AM until service time on Saturday at the First United Methodist Church. Memorials may be directed to his family
