Friday, December 15, 1893Ralph Doty, aged 22 years, a son of James Doty of Grand River township, died at this home at Villisca, December 3rd.

December 1893Obituary - Ralph W., son of James Doty, was born in Union Co., Ia., June 25, 1871; married to Lutica Doty, Sept. 1, 1890. To them was born one child, a boy, now two years of age.
After marriage he lived in Macksburg, Ia., until Nov. 1, 1892, when he moved to Red Oak, Ia., and was engaged as a clerk with the firm of Pyles & Doty. When in January 1893 the firm bought the "My Store," he was engaged here until he took sick with typhoid fever, Nov. 8, 1893.
On account of previous ill health he was unable to withstand the ravages of typhoid, and sank gradually until death relieved him, Sunday, Nov. 3, '93.
The remains were taken to Macksburg, Iowa, to be interred Monday.
